Conductivity, Salinity, and pH These simple, but important parameters are measured regularly using pH and conductivity meters. Conductivity provides a rapid estimation of the total dissolved solids or salinity, which is important in assessing the suitability of water for various uses. pH is a measure of whether a water is acidic, alkaline or neutral. Adjustment of pH is important for the control of corrosion and the optimisation of the disinfection process. Back to top
Colour & Turbidity Both Colour & Turbidity are optical parameters, important for the monitoring of drinking water, environment and waste discharge. Back to top
Hardness Derived sum of Calcium and Magnesium. An indicator of the ability of water to precipitate soap. Hard Water, wtih high levels of calcium & magnesium, has an undesirable taste, inhibits the lathering of soap and causes 'scaling" on boilers, hotwater systems & kettles. Soft water lathers, tastes better and does not cause scaling. Back to top
